Babaeng manliligaw, pwede ba yun?

Sa Ingles pa, "It's the man's job to do the pursuing."

Sa panliligaw, kasama yung pakikipagkilala o GTKY - Getting To Know You.

What can you do to learn more effectively?

I can learn effectively by inviting the Holy Ghost through prayer each time I begin to study.

As I study, I will take down notes so I will have something to review and what I have studied will be put in my remembrance.

I need to continue to use highlighters/markers to know the main topics or keywords.

I will always use a dictionary if I find words that are new to me or I do not understand the meaning.

I promise to share what I have learned with my family and friends so they will also benefit.

Online Forum: Q&A on Transitions

Children with physical disabilities and mobility need present unique challenges during transitions.

Q: How do you make sure everyone gets where they need to go?
How do you keep everyone engaged?

RESPONSIBILITY

As a teacher, I must take responsibility for each of my students.

ANECDOTAL RECORDS

If there are anecdotal records, I must read them and I must also continue to take note of any observations I have.

STUDENT'S BACKGROUND

I need to get to know the strengths and weaknesses of my students so I can adjust to their pace and I will know how to deal with any situation such as tantrums or any behavior changes. This is possible if I will also check the diagnosis, medications, and background of the student.

EXPECTATIONS

It is also very important to set the expectations or classroom rules clear to my students. The rewards and consequences must be constantly given.

TRANSITIONS

If I will ask my students to end the first activity, the transition must be smooth and clear not to a point where they will be forced to stop or surprised to be doing another activity.

PARENT-TEACHER COLLABORATION

I also realized that I need to work well and closely with the parents and guardians of the students because some behaviors may only be present in school but not in the home or vice versa.

Buhay Online English Tutor

Am I an ADDICT?

The word or adjective ADDICT is being generalized by most people.
I, myself also thought that an addict is solely being addicted to drugs.
I was taught as a child that TOO MUCH OF ANYTHING is DANGEROUS.

We are all ADDICTS. We can only be addicted between two things: Good or Bad.
The choices are
A. Good
and
B. Bad

Some of us might think or ask,
“What if I’m left with only one thing,
does it mean I have no choice but to immediately do or choose it?”
The ANSWER: Whenever we are left with only one choice or task to do, the challenge there is to either JUST DO IT or DO NOTHING.
SIMPLE LOGIC:
Do Good, receive blessings.
Do Bad, suffer punishments.

If you choose A-The Good
- Well Done. Continue. Remain to be a FAITHful and OBEDIENT servant of the LORD.
If you choose B-The Bad
-Better Luck Next Time. Try again or strive not to fail again. Doing a bad thing is a sin of commission.
If you think B is the only thing or option you have
-In Denial. Doing nothing is a sin of omission. Doing bad is just equal to doing nothing. You know what is good, but you did nothing but the bad things.
Stop pretending to be blind and could not see that there is The Good. Open your heart and mind. Seek the Good, The Truth and what is Just. Recognize and Appreciate all things and both sides whatever it may be, negative or positive.

Be an ADDICT of RIGHTEOUSNESS. It is by the ACT of Doing what is RIGHT and pleasing to our loving Heavenly Father.
Stop being an ADDICT of WICKEDNESS. It is like or close to the act of signing an advanced contract, stating that you agree to burn your soul while you and the entire body you have is still in your mortal state.

Is it good to be an ADDICT?
The real question is “What are you addicted to? Does it give a good benefit to everyone? Or in short, Does it benefit everyone?”
If it does not benefit everyone, it is selfishness. Selfishness because you only think of your own benefit and forget the rest of the living creatures here in this world.

Sincerely,
Sister Rocha

Dear Future Eternal Help Meet

by Astrid P. Rocha
Date: January 1, 2017
Edited and finished: February 1, 2017

Dear Father of My Future Children,

My Eternal Help Meet, Hey!
How are you? What's cooking?
Tell me your favorite foods and dishes. I will be happy if I already know how to prepare or cook them. But if not, I have the idea to learn it from one of the best recipe books in the world or from the best chefs like my mom or your mom if she is still with you, you know, until you ask my hand from my parents. ;)
Well, as of this writing, my father joined the Lord in the year 1999. And that makes my mother a widow for 17 years.
So, my mom is my GUARD. My GUARDian ANGEL.
She wants the BEST for me. So NEVER THINK ABOUT YOURSELF as the LEAST.
Remember what FORD said, "AIM HIGH, and HIT the MARK."

Let me get you straight, I am TALKATIVE. I would like to adapt to my mother's preference when it comes to COMMUNICATION. It has to be CONSISTENT.
I believe that TRUE LOVE is like a PRAYER. TRUE LOVE = COMMUNICATION.
COMMUNICATION, it must be CONSISTENT. NOT Convenient.
My mom's perspective is "Find a man who would not only throw you interesting stories but who will give way for you to SPEAK."
You better LISTEN WHOLEHEARTEDLY. Lend me your ears and look into my BEAUTIFUL EYES. ^_^

I would always love to hear from you. I sought to hear your voice over te phone, but it would make me feel giddy if I can look into your eyes as you say the RIGHT WORDS to me, the WORDS not only would make me HAPPY, hearing it but most especially and above all, I tell you.
Please do not be too trying hard to please me with your FLOWERY WORDS. Yes, I appreciate that you compliment me. But it is my plead unto thee, please, please, our DEAR LOVING HEAVENLY FATHER MORE THAN ME or MORE THAN ANYONE ELSE in this world.

WRITE ME LETTERS. See my journals, my poems, my blogs and videos.
I love reading books, inspiring books, most especially the scriptures. I would expect that you love the things I love and the skills I know and the knowledge that I have. I would be eager to know and love the things you love doing.

IF I WERE A BOY, I WOULD BE A GENTLEMAN.
I am a boyish type of girl as I grew up in a family of four siblings, I am the sole girl, now a woman, with three gentleman brothers. I am a GENTLEWOMAN and I will soon marry you because you are a GENTLEMAN. I do not see myself exchanging vows and spending the rest of my life with someone I am more gentle than him, or should I say, "Forget me, if you can't be as GENTLE as I am to you. Please be gentle as a dove, soft as cotton, light as a feather and loving as JESUS CHRIST."
We are near yet so far. I am already 25 years old, I want a GTKY activity with you. When are you planning to meet me?
I am waiting for you. I am pretty sure that you are waiting for me, too. I hate this WAITING GAME they call.

Have I met you? Do you have QUESTIONS for me? I have so many QUESTIONS for you, but as of now, I am keeping them and keep asking GOD FIRST.
Do you want me to ask the questions in my mind right now?
Let me begin with these:

Are you PRAYING for me?
How are your THOUGHTS about me? Are they PURE?
This is NOT a SECRET, but this is a HIDDEN TREASURE I want to REVEAL:
You know how I want you to REMEMBER ME:
"Remember me with SMILES and LAUGHTER, for that is how I will remember you all.
If you can only remember me with tears, then don't remember me at all."
- Laura Ingalls Wilder
Also, please, remember me in your PRAYERS. You are remembered in my PRAYERS, too.

How often do I come into your THOUGHTS? Pardon me for tiring your BRAIN. But since I'm RUNNING in your MIND, I got exhausted, too. Probably we are sharing the same thoughts or that you are in my DREAMS and that we EXCITEDly run to meet each other when we met in DREAMLAND. Maybe I need to get some MORE SLEEP. But I decided and really want to WAKE UP and be in the REAL WORLD to see the REAL YOU.

Do you know my LIKES and DISLIKES? Are you interested in the THINGS I ENJOY? Are you willing to LEARN the GAMES I PLAY? Focus on my SPIRIT, not just my eyes or my face or my voice or whatever is visible to thine eyes or transparent to thine senses.

Cut me some slack, do not be shy. Please have the COURAGE to GET to know me especially my HEART and MIND. Do not focus on my FACE or my OUTWARD APPEARANCE. I will also grow old, have GREY HAIRS and WRINKLES on my NOSE and EYES, my skin will get saggy in time, I might gain or lose weight, too. I hope you already know how to adjust to the HORMONAL IMBALANCES of the women. I bet you have biological sisters or foster sisters around you. I am hoping and praying that you are really well-taught by those sisters of yours and that includes your mom.
DOMINO EFFECT.
How do you treat your mother and your sister? Are you good for them? Please love them as much as they love you. They get moody sometimes, but they are just concerned about you and your own welfare. I believe in the saying that,
"A man will treat his woman or his wife the way he treats his mother and sister." I have high hopes that you have GREAT RESPECT for the women, girls and children.

Love,
Princess Astrid, your soon-to-be Queen Astrid
(insert your FAMILY NAME here)

*Hey, I'm not done yet.
YES, I DO, I Do love, Y, Yeah, I do LOVE STORIES. I LOVE STORIES.
My Father when he was still alive, he would tell bedtime stories to us kids.
Let us read and share bedtime stories to our FUTURE CHILDREN, ALRIGHT? Prepare them now.

So, when will our LOVE STORY begin?

LUMINGON KA SA IYONG PINANGGALINGAN

ni Astrid P. Rocha
Petsa: Enero 1, 2017

Kapag tama, gawin mo, isabuhay mo.

Kapag may lakad, dapat hinahatid-sundo.

OBSERVING and SILENT NOTES TAKING

There may be people who are very quiet and always keeping their mouth shut but it doesn’t mean that they don’t have anything to say or they don’t know anything. You’ll never know how good they are at OBSERVING and SILENT NOTES TAKING. Silent water runs deep. If there’s SMALL but TERRIBLE, there’s SILENT but TURBULENT. Less talk. Less mistake. Wait until their voices get heard.

The Stray Dog in XU

It was Tuesday May 13, 2014 when I saw a handsome stray dog in school.
After waiting at the clinic to have my Medical Cetificate signed, I passed by the CSG office in Xavier Uiversity - Ateneo de Cagayan.
Mario Neri was there busy encoding something in his laptop. He let me sat there for awhile and to my surprise, I saw this Furry Angel.
Thea Alolor saw him first. We all would like to give him food. We were also talking to him as if he is a human. I'm so glad to see Thea breaking the biscuits into little bits for the dog to easily munch them. She also looked for a container where we could put water so the dog could also drink.

Instead of rushing my way upstairs to catch my 10:40am class, I managed to stay with the dog and keep on asking him, "Hey, how were you able to come inside the school. Are you lost? Are you hungry?" The dog was harmless, I whistled and keep on saying, "Hello doggy". I tell you, if only this dog was well taken cared of, he will look beautiful as the black labradors/K9 dogs we see at Cetrio Ayala.
He would come near you if you call him. I intended to name him Theo because Thea was the one who offered him the biscuits.

I am also concerned about the response of people who might see him. Because he also have this smell that not everybody will like. I'm sure dog owners will know that smell if their dogs do not want to be bathed and he has scabies. Please look at the photo wherein I placed a sticker heart inside a balloon. You can see in his eyes that he needs love, a place called home and people he may call his FAMILY.

Dr. Dulce Dawang is so kind. She was on her way upstairs when she saw the dog, I didn't see a facial expression that was grossed out. She even smiled and said, "Nagpahangin sya oh". I am referring to the picture wherein I placed a halo on top of the dog's head - I consider dogs as furry angels. She is so humble and I admire her.

I wasn't wrong with my perception. The security guard in school held an arm rest, I don't know where he got it. I really saw everything he did. He stroked it and hit the dog very hard. The dog ran away as fast as he could down stairs. I told the security guard not to hit the dog and that he could shoo him away without hurting him. The exact words I said was, "Manong Guard! Kuya, ayaw bunali ang iro. Pwede man na nimo abugon nga dili nimo sya gabunalan! Ako na lang ang mag-abog kuya pagawas sa eskwelahan." But he didn't listen to me. He did not even managed to drop the arm rest he was holding. The act was very inhumane.
I really cried out loud and couldn't take what he did.
He called another guard to watch at the other end of the pavilion because it was where the dog hid. But to their surprise, the dog was nowhere to find.

I hope and pray that LAW makers will include ANIMAL RIGHTS and WELFARE in their list. It is my advocacy to protect not only humans but also the other creations of GOD. I wanna be a lawyer someday and I will never forget these learning experiences in my life. I pray that the security guard will realize what he did. I know he is on his duty to ensure the safety and security of the students, teachers, staff and other people in school. But it is not right to harm dogs. I hope he will reflect on these questions and all of us reading this:
What if you were in the dog's shoes? How would you feel?

Honestly, I'm not mad at him. I am mad at what he did. But I forgive you. Ask forgiveness from the LORD and He will forgive you.

REMEMBER THIS:

"Reverse the word DOG, you will get GOD"

I just pray that the dog wasn't badly hurt and I hope a loving home awaits him.
Please pray for all of the animals in the world. They don't deserve to be treated this way. STOP ANIMAL ABUSE!

MUSIC is my LIFE

What could be the world without music?
For it is full of magic
It makes our day and mood fantastic
Could heal both physically and spiritually sick

When we sing hymns, we praise the Lord
Especially if it is done with one accord
Feel and love the tone of every chord
To ignite your Spirit if you are bored

Music really brings life to everybody
A treasure worth keeping like a jewelry
Same as a pearl that symbolizes purity
Adds happiness and beauty to you and me

Inspired from the Beatitudes of Music Teachers by Loraine Edwards

My four lines version:

Blessed are the music teachers who accept criticisms for theirs is the value of humility.
Blessed are the music teachers who give their time and efforts for theirs is the value of generosity.
Blessed are the music teachers who share their knowledge and life stories for the pages of their book of life will be filled with love and wonderful memories.
Blessed are the music teachers who continuously share and inspire their students to lift their faces to smile for theirs is the contentment and peace of mind.

My Family History

In the year 1991 and in the happiest month of the year, I, Astrid P. Rocha was born on the 20th day of December. I am second among the siblings and the only daughter of four children of Miguel Reyes Rocha and Veneranda Sanchez Paradero. I was privileged to have been born in a hospital in Quezon City, the Capitol Medical Center. My brother who was born after me was also born in Quezon City, at the Delgado Hospital. My youngest brother is the only one who was born in Cagayan de Oro City. We all grew up together in this city. We grew up in the house of my grandparents. My grandpa, being a Chavacano speaks Chavacano in the house and that is how my mother learned the dialect. We understand a little Chavacano but rarely speak it. It was customary for us to be speaking in Filipino inside the house, rather than Cebuano.

I’m proud to say that I’m properly raised by my goodly parents specially my mother who single-handedly raised us for nearly 14 years now. My father joined our Almighty Father in the year 1999 on the fifth day of December. I was in my second grade at Lourdes Grade School and was seven years old that time. Even if my father isn’t with us anymore, I know that families can be together forever and we will see him again in the spirit world, after our earthly life is done.

I am blessed with many gifts and talents from the Lord. I excel in sports and enjoy good health. I have gifts in oral and written communications and being beautiful inside and out.  I see life as a gift from God. I’m very thankful to Him for I belong to a very good family, with very supportive parents and loving brothers. I know God loves each one of us because we are His children. I know that He sent us here on earth for a purpose and that is to become eternally happy by obeying His commandments and enduring to the end. By doing so, we can go back and join our Heavenly Father in His kingdom.

My father, who was fondly called “Mikey” was born in Tondo, Manila but grew up in the lovely city of Zamboanga. He is a graduate of BS Political Science in Western Mindanao State University, and took up Public Administration at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City. He spent his primary years at the Colegio de San Juan de Letran in Manila. Later when their family moved out to Zamboanga City, he went on to finish his grade school at the Ateneo de Zamboanga.  Papa belonged to the elite MalacaƱang Press Corp during the Marcos administration, and covered the Department of National Defense for 10 years. It was then that he became a friend of ex-president Gen. Brig. Fidel Ramos. He was at Camp Aguinaldo with Juan Ponce Enrile during the fateful People’s Revolution. He would write articles both in the national daily, the Gold Star Daily and Sunstar about the Revolution every year when February comes. Later, he became the editorial consultant at the MalacaƱang Press Office during the Ramos administration. My father enjoyed a colorful career as a journalist. My father was a former editor of Gold Star and Sunstar dailies.

It was during his years as Desk Editor at the Manila Chronicle that my father met the most beautiful woman, my mother Veni. She was at that time the executive secretary of the president of Capital Garments Corporation and at the same time the Union president, and the editor in chief of the corporate newsletter. She went to the office of my father to have a press release for the Union published at the Manila Chronicle.

My mom was born in Santo Tomas, Candon City, Ilocos Sur. She was 2 months old when she was brought to Manila where she was raised and grew up. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, as a government scholar. She also earns the distinction of being one of the regional finalists of the first ever National Spelling Bee Contest. She was in grade school at that time. Her most vivid memory of that event was, being seated side by side with Imee Marcos. Mama was not even aware that she was the daughter of the President.

My mother worked as a junior executive at SM Makati’s advertising department. She also had been given the opportunity to work with big corporations like Daewoo Cars, where she was the executive secretary of the president. When we moved out to Cagayan de Oro, my mother earned the not so savory distinction of being “Ms. Terror” at Liceo University where she taught English at the College of Liberal Arts. She was also among the advisers of the Liceo Theatre Arts and the College Newsletter. In Cagayan de Oro, she had worked as a sales and marketing executive of the Canoy Group of Companies, Dctech, Bayantel and Hotel Koresco. She is currently working at Duka Bay Resort as the Sales and Marketing Manager. In between, she is a great teacher, tutor, and homemaker.

My paternal grandfather, Attorney Fernando Bellapaz Rocha was married to my beautiful grandmother, Thelma Naguio Reyes, Ph. D. Grandma took her studies in Education at the Far Eastern University in Manila where she was Miss Education. She was a musician and played the piano, violin, and banduria, and was a great dancer as well. She taught in various schools in the city including Lourdes College, Cagayan de Oro College and Capitol University.

I must say, I come from a family of educators, as my maternal grandma, Agripina del Rosario Sanchez was a teacher until her retirement in 1995. She is now residing in her hometown Santo Tomas, Candon City, Ilocos Sur, where my mother visits her every year. Nanay as we fondly call her, was married to the late Felix Dequilla Paradero who has roots in Marinduque and Quezon Province. I never saw my Lolo Felix, but my mother has very fond memories of him, my mother being a papa’s girl. Lolo Felix loved learning so much that he spent his time reading everyday. He has read the Holy Bible from cover to cover, and read important books in history, which makes him an instant research reference by my mother when she was a student.

Grandpa wanted our family to move here in Cagayan de Oro after my grandmother died in 1996. My family has been residing here since 1997.
Since my father died, my mother has been mother and father to us, 4 children. My eldest brother Miguel Frederico now works as a seaman. He is now in Australia as of this writing. My brother Diego is in 3rd year high school at Cagayan de Oro College. He is a band drummer  of the Leap band and a terrific dancer. My youngest brother Carlos Miguel, whom we fondly call “Khalil”, joins me at Xavier University taking up AB Economics. Khalil enjoys sports like me, and he plays a lot of basketball. He used to play soccer at Xavier Grade School.

As a Latter-day Saint family, mother enjoys going to church every Sunday and encourages us to stay close to the church, where we find refuge from all the worldly challenges. We enjoy family home evenings every Monday nights, and work hard to make our home a little bit of heaven here on earth.

A Crazy Little Thing Called Love movie review and My Thoughts About LOVE

The movie A Crazy Little Thing Called Love teaches us about the importance of expressing our love or affection to the people we love before it is too late.

- It is better to say our feelings to the person we love rather than regret for not having said it.
- Never expect that the love we show to other people will make them love us the same.
- Love rarely gets reciprocated but it is better to give than receive.
- Express your love, just wait until they will respond.
- If they don't love you the way you love them, love them anyway.
- Good things happen to those who are willing to wait, but great things happen to those who do something while they are waiting.

"What would you want to add. Just comment below. I would LOVE to hear from you."

Just sharing my thoughts with you about LOVE.
I'm just inspired and for being inspired, I would LOVE to INSPIRE.

LOVE,

You came so fast and gone the same way

You came into my life unexpectedly
Prayed to God for making me happy
Gave my self the chance to get to know you
Expressed your love that is so untrue

I woke up feeling tired
Can't say I'm inspired
Sitting by the window
Feeling the cold wind blow

It was raining outside
So I stayed inside
I am done with your lies
Sick of your alibis

Funny how you left
You were kinda deaf
Hardly felt your presence
All I sensed was your absence

The four-stanza poem above is dedicated to the people who got brokenhearted.
For those who have somebody who came into their lives and left them hanging and hopeless.
Never invest feelings for the person you are not even sure you will spend the rest of your life. If you are the woman, I hope and pray that you will have the assurance and confirmation from him (your boyfriend) that he accepts your strengths and weaknesses. When it comes to STRENGTHS... He must not be insecure about your strengths and superiority in some aspects. HE MUST... - respect you, doesn't force you to like something you don't like. - be proud to have you and introduces you to his family and friends. - not deny that you are in a relationship with him. - know that you are also right when you demand something it means you know what you want and what is best for the two of you and your future family with your children. - nobody is superior and inferior because you are a HELP MEETS.
When it comes to WEAKNESSES... He must TBC God will save you from the wrong person because He loves you.
GOD bless!

Dilapidated Shoes

I wrote this poem during my high school days. As far as I can remember, sadness filled me while jotting down this piece. Dated 12/05/07 @ 8:40am
LOL! here it goes...

The year is almost ending
People are all busy buying
Preparing in advance for Christmas
Hoping they could purchase from the surplus

There was this young lady

Who doesn't eat much candy
Wished for the world's love, peace and unity
Wants to plant and grow at least one tree

She walks to school with her big backpack

Doesn't mind people who tease her "hunchback!"
Sometimes she cries because she is ashamed
Wearing her worn shoes even if there's a game

Life for her is a challenge and it's hard

This lady is contented for her awards
Faith in GOD is what she always value
Striving to be more righteous and true
